Form follows function. And passion.
The case and dial design speaks the clear, straightforward design language of the FORM watch line and at the same time refers to the Black Forest as the fundamental source of inspiration.
This becomes immediately evident with the matte black presentation of a PVD-coated case and the bowl-shaped dial reflecting the dense woodland which lends the region its name. A twelve o’clock marker in red or brown and the luminous substance-coated bar pointer provide striking highlights. The inscription “Black Forest since 1861” at six o’clock – also in the respective accent color – is an expression of Junghans’ 160-year-long attachment to its homeland. Junghans combines the modern case design with particularly authentic strap variants: the black/red Edition model comprises a combination of loden and leather. Red decorative stitching extend the color highlights of the dial all the way around the wrist where it culminates in an absolutely delightful detail: A red “Bollenhut” is exhibited on the clasp – an item of Black Forest traditional costume and a well-known symbol for the region. The black/brown version of strap is inspired by the Black Forest pine tree, likewise ubiquitous emblem for this area. A relief-like presentation on the surface of the leather is representative of the structure of tree bark. Constructed out of passion. Equipped for the rigors of everyday life. A glance at the case back shows that with the FORM A Edition 160, the Junghans watch factory is dedicating 600 pieces each to the flora and fauna of its homeland. An Edition print conveying the cross section of a tree trunk is displayed on the black/brown version beneath a cover of mineral crystal. The annual rings and anniversary date symbolize longevity of the long-established Black Forest company.
